Izlan es un álbum de paisajes sonoros y grabaciones de campo que retratan un recorrido por las ciudades de Fez, Meknes y Tanger, en Marruecos. La vida en la medina, el bullicio, los comunicados, la religión; sonidos que trazan un contraste entre el día y la noche, las callejas principales y secundarias, los vendedores y turistas, la rutina y la fe. Izlan propone un trayecto sonoro que transita un territorio enriquecido en sonidos que hacen eco de una historia marcada por interacciones entre culturas africanas, asiáticas y europeas.
Fes El Bali, la medina, la ciudad amurallada más antigua de Fez, supone ser el área urbana libre de automóviles más grande en el mundo. Los vendedores dan vida a sus callejas angostas, cuyos intrincados trazados se remontan siglos atrás. Las artesanías son la especialidad de esta ciudad-mercado en donde la habilidad para el diálogo es la base de toda transacción. Izlan – jour propone un trayecto sonoro que transcurre en esa dinámica diurna.

Izlan is an album of soundscapes and field recordings that portray a journey through the cities of Fez, Meknes and Tanger, in Morocco. Life in the medina, the bustle, the announcements, the religion; sounds that draw a contrast between day and night, the main and secondary alleys, vendors and tourists, routine and faith. Izlan proposes a sound journey that transits throuth a territory enriched in sounds that echo a history marked by interactions between African, Asian and European cultures.
Fes El Bali, the medina, the oldest walled city in Fez, is believed to be the largest car-free urban area in the world. Vendors bring its narrow alleys to life, which intricate layouts date back many centuries. Crafts are the specialty of this market-city where the ability for dialogue is the basis of all transactions. Izlan – jour proposes a sound journey that takes place in this daytime urban dynamic.
